Sony is a friend indeed

After watching "Friends with Benefits", a stark realisation has dawned on me.

No, it's not that Justin Timberlake is one of the most beautiful and delicious men alive - I have always been acutely aware of this fact.

It appears that I really need more Sony in my life. And if I wasn't aware of who or what Sony is before watching this film, I sure know now.

I have never been bombarded by images of a product in a film before. Every second image was filled with Sony - not surprising considering that the company releasing the film, Screen Gems, is a part of Sony Corp.

The film itself was an enjoyable romp, mainly due to the fantastic chemistry between Timberlake and his leading lady Mila Kunis, along with Woody Harrelson's brief appearances. However, I found - as I'm sure others did - that the sheer volume of product placement was off-putting and detracted from the film itself.

In fact, most of the reviews of the film mention product placement.

And I'm not sure if it did Sony any favours. Sure, the leads are possibly the sexiest people on the planet...but could their emotional detachment and commitment issues be linked to overexposure of Sony?

Utterly implausible, but I like to think so.

Furthermore, it appears that the public are becoming more discerning about what they will buy into.

Mila Kunis may use a Sony Vaio, but I'll stick to my HP. Thanks all the same.

Hello

Due to boredom and lack of usable material for my FYP, I am setting up a blog.

The likelihood is that no-one will ever read this, or even care much for my inane ramblings, but here goes.

My name is Aisling Hussey and I am studying journalism in the University of Limerick. I spend an unnecessary amount of time panicking about entering my final year of college, rather than doing anything productive. Unless this counts?

I have worked for The Kerryman, where I spent most of the time annoying the staff and wrote a few articles. It was good fun.

This blog will mainly be about boring stuff, current affairs and the like, but I'll try to make it as interesting as possible and update frequently.

All comments (even the mean ones) are welcome.
